I just purchased my first side of beef from Savage Hill and I could not be happier with this farm. The owners were quick to respond by email and helpful. I found the price to be very reasonable, especially with how I was able to customize my order. I have purchased a side of grass fed beef before and I enjoyed it but it was on the tough and gamey side. I haven't tried the steaks yet, but this is the BEST ground beef I have ever tasted in my life. If I didn't know better I would swear it was not grass fed. Will absolutely be purchasing again next year!

Having adopted a carnivore lifestyle for over a year, we have been happy with the health benefits, but not so happy with the cost of buying meat at the grocery store. We decided to try Savage Hill, so we bought 1/2 cow and boy have we been blown away! On the service side, the process was super simple and streamlined. Ryan and his team were always quick to respond and everything went smoothly. The price is impossible to beat even when compared to online suppliers. With 1/2 cow we filled our 15 cubic feet freezer. The cuts look beautiful and they are professionally packaged. The meats are delicious and they have a lot of flavor. It was hard to believe it tasted so good with just salt and pepper. They do a great job raising those cows! We definitely recommend Savage Hill.

This was our first whole Cow purchase and I could not be happier with the experience. The process began with questions, which Ryan was more than happy to answer. We then made the decision to go for it and sent in the deposit and cut sheet. It took a little less then a mouth before I got the notice the meat was ready for pick up. The timeframe was estimated to be longer, however to my pleasant surprise we got pushed up. I then picked up the meat from the processor, who could not have been nicer. All the meat was frozen and neatly packaged in labeled vacuum sealed bags. Ryan happened to be doing some business there, so I got to meet him as well. Once home, myself and a friend divided up the meat, which took about 45 min to go through all the packages. I then loaded up my half into my 10.7 ft.³ freezer with some space to spare. Last night we had our first taste of the meat. I defrosted two porterhouse and two ribeye. The meat was unbelievable, very tender and full of flavor. Plus...

Grass-fed beef & non gmo fed pork

We are located in the geographic heart of Connecticut. We sell free range grass-and-hay-fed beef by the side. We utilize Black Angus cattle crossbred with Wagyu cattle (Wagyu cattle produce the meat more commonly known as Kobe beef). This allows us to take advantage of the superior hybrid vigor traits or heterosis of a crossbred animal which makes them more hearty, healthy and naturally productive. As a result, all of our animals are kept outdoors in a low stress environment year round, sometimes with the exception of a young calf and mother in very inclement weather. Producing quality grass-fed beef is no easy task; we have found the introduction of Wagyu genetics into our operation has made an enormous impact on the flavor and tenderness of our beef. We are now able to produce an even better grass-fed product without compromising the quality you would expect from a great steak! We are a small operation that values old fashion farming techniques and humane treatment of all our animals. We DO NOT use any synthetic fertilizers, pesticides or herbicides anywhere on our property, in turn this allows a diverse group of soil microbes to improve nutrient cycling and deliver more trace minerals through the food chain and eventually to you. We pledge that we will never use artificial growth hormones, antibiotics or other drugs in our cattle. All of the beef that we sell from our farm comes from cattle that have been born and raised on our farm in accordance with our strict husbandry practices. This eliminates the possibility of introducing animals that can be sick, diseased or not raised to our standards.Currently our beef can only be purchased by the whole side. A typical side of beef weighs approximately 300 pounds. There is an approximate 10 day to 2 week lead time required and a 50% deposit as animals are processed on a per order basis for maximum quality. All of our meat is processed in USDA inspected facilities. The current price of a side is $5.50 per pound hanging weight for a half and $5.00 per pound for a whole cow; this includes custom cutting to customer specifications (if desired) and vacuum sealing, however prices are subject to change as prices fluctuate. Give us a call or send an e-mail today to place your order, we will give you a call as soon as it is ready and you can pick it up directly from the processor. When you buy from us you get the best piece of beef and peace of mind.****WHOLE PIG FREEZER ORDERS AVAILABLE NOW ON LIMITED BASIS**** call or email for availability.
